The Golems Speak
Dear backers,
This is not a drill. Today we are landing! Ravaged by Storms (PDF), its VTT assets, and the digital poster were distributed to you on BackerKit just a few minutes ago! Sabrina worked her a** off over the holidays so she could finally present our Mythic Sandbox Adventure to you at the beginning of the year!
How to access the adventure?
You need your backer survey on BackerKit first. If you are among the 8% of backers who haven't done so yet, try to find it in your e-mails or spam filter.
After you've completed the survey, your order will lock within 1-2 days. After that, your card will be charged, if there were any outstanding payments. After the payment has been processed, you'll be able to access your downloads.
Distribution via itch.io / DriveThruRPG will happen in a few weeks.
If you are retailer, don't be surprised. As described in your backer survey, we will distribute the PDFs to you closer to physical fulfillment.
Preview video (please share!)
Let us know your thoughts!
So, have picked up Ravaged by Storms as your first new module of 2026? Have you read it? Are you running it? Do you even plan to post a review or an actual play, perhaps a written playreport? Whatever it is, please do and let us know about it, we appreciate it a lot!
In a few days, we will b be back with a proper monthly update. Enjoy!

More and more spreads of Ravaged by Storms are being finalized. Sabrina devotes hours upon hours to art and layout.
The Golems Speak
Happy Advent, filthy pirates (and most appreciated backers)!
We've had a busy and, in many ways, exciting November, both at work and in our private lives, as well as at Golem Productions. So let's dive into this monthly update at once.
87% of backers have completed their backer survey
That's wonderful, thank you all! If you haven't received your survey yet, please check your junk folders and spam filters. The invitation was sent by email. If you can't find it, you can request access to your survey HERE on BackerKit.
Completing the survey is necessary in order to access your digital files and so that we can get your addresses for physical shipping.
Summary of our progress in November
Ravaged by Storms is almost finished! Only three pieces of artwork and the layout of a single spread are still missing. The work is progressing a little slower than expected, but we are still well on schedule.
Two out of three personalized portraits for the exclusive Tempest Deluxe Pledge Tier have been created and approved. The third will follow in the new year.
The Way of the Worm adventure, the VTT assets for The Way of the Worm, and our Storm Generator are already available on BackerKit! Note: We will initially make all digital files available there, but you can also choose DriveThruRPG or itch.io as additional platforms in the survey. However, on these platforms, we will only publish the final files at the very end of the project.
In addition to the Backer Survey, we have also opened our Pre-Order Store on BackerKit!
Unfortunately, The Scarlet Coral Citadel Enhanced Edition has been delayed at the editor and has not yet been processed there. However, this is fine and has been mutually agreed upon, as we will be working on other things first in December anyway.
In November, I published a blog post on the topic: “How I Write Adventures.” In it, I also talk a little bit about the background of writing Ravaged by Storms and what lessons we learned from it. Check it out!
We will release Ravaged by Storms digitally before the end of the year! This requires the final content mentioned above and another thorough round of proofreading.
Thomas Zitkevitz will release the official soundtrack for Ravaged by Storms on December 12. Backers will receive it from us free of charge a few days earlier (Stretch Goal 14). The OST may be released a few days before the adventure.
We plan to send Ravaged by Storms to the printer this year (Stretch Goal 2+5+7), along with the double-sided poster (Stretch Goal 3+6)! I should perhaps explain the following: for technological and logistical reasons, we distribute our products to two different printing companies. One will print the main book together with the poster, which will also be folded and inserted there. Then we will shrink-wrap the whole lot so that the poster cannot fall out.
And then what?
We don't know exactly when the book will go to the printer and when they will be closed for the Christmas holidays, but we can expect at least 5-6 weeks of printing time for Ravaged by Storms if the proof goes through without any major changes, plus shipping time to our fulfillment partner.
The VTT Assets (Stretch Goal 1) for Ravaged by Storms and the digital solo supplement Solo Storm (Stretch Goal 12) are expected to become available early next year (Q1 2026). The development of the latter is still in its very early stages.
However, it is more important to us that we expect the editing of The Scarlet Coral Citadel to be completed by the end of the year, make corrections in January, and then focus all our energy on the layout and art for the new pages (Stretch Goals 10+13), because the zine must be finished before we can begin physical fulfillment.
The Way of the Worm and the postcards are already finished and almost ready for printing. They will be printed together with The Scarlet Coral Citadel at the second printing house, hopefully with proofing in February.
As mentioned last time, we were very pleased to enter into some inspiring collaborations. There will be more to hear from Golem Productions about Pirate Borg until early 2026 ... :)
Miscellaneous from Golem Productions
Interview with Alexander of Golem Productions at Grinning Cat
Nate Whittington, creator of Grinning Cat Publications and the recent Mothership project CERTAIN FATHOMS was kind enough to reach out for an interview with me (Alexander) on his blog. We talked about the founding of Golem Productions, crowdfunding, and current and future projects. Read the whole interview here!
By the way: I will be publishing the second part of our conversation on my blog next week.
Last Day of Islands of Weirdhope and Four Fathoms Deep
If, in addition to pirates, you're also into weird sea voyages and nautical adventures in a drowned world, with gigantic mechas and kaiju lurking beneath the waves, ruthless corporate schemes, and heroic punks, then check out Islands of Weirdhope, which has its last day on BackerKit today! I (Alexander) am contributing an adventure to the official adventure collection Four Fathoms Deep.

The Golems Speak
We have wind in our sails!
Sorry, everyone, for the two updates so close together, but major stuff is happening.
Smoke Test went out!
As of today, we have sent the smoke test of our backer survey to 5% of all backers. If you have received an email (check your spam filters!), we ask you to take a look at the survey during the course of the week.
Please report any potential errors or issues either directly via BackerKit or to golemproductions [ at ] posteo.com!
Full Backer Survey Imminent!
If the smoke test reveals no major issues, as we hope it will, we will send out the complete backer survey to everyone at the beginning of next week. You will receive it via email and will be directed to BackerKit, where you will find further information and instructions. BackerKit customer service is available to answer any questions you may have. If you have any issue, please contact the team directly on the platform.
You must successfully complete the survey by February 2026, including payment for shipping, so that we can send you your books and zines. However, you can do this right away on BackerKit as soon as you receive an invitation to your survey, which will also give you access to your digital files.
There will also be an opportunity to purchase additional add-ons. We will be offering our Death Wind Islands postcards for the very last time, and then never again. Early-Bird-Rewards and already purchased add-ons will of course already be visible in your cart.
If you haven't received an invitation link by mid next week (~Nov 12, 2025) or if you can't find it anymore, you can request a new one here!
Digital Fulfillment begins!
As a freebie and thank you to everyone, and as a teaser for what's to come, our 3-page Storm Generator is now available for download on BackerKit to all backers. It will be published on DriveThruRPG and itch.io as well.
To access all other digital rewards, you must successfully complete your survey. Once you have done this, the following rewards will be available to you immediately:
The Way of the Worm (Full Adventure, PDF)
The Way of the Worm VTT Assets
Expect more files becoming available in the upcoming weeks. This is just the beginning.
Preorder Store / Late Pledges Are Open!
Just as the headline says. If you want to share it around, you'd do us some great help! Let people know. This is for people who haven't backed at all so far. Preoders will likely stay open until mid February 2026.
So Many Naval Adventures on the Horizon!
RAGNABORG- Sail around Broken Midgard during the days of Ragnarok. A Viking-hack compatible with Mork Borg and Pirate Borg. Strong backing, but only 43 hours left until the end of the campaign!
It Comes From the Deep! | Pirate Borg - A rum-soaked one-shot and a full-length, sandbox adventure. Two terrifying tales. One Dark Caribbean. Endless ways to die. Not a hack, but classic Pirate Borg adventures, currently at 62% of the funding goal. Let's bring it to (un)life!
Pirate Borg: The Winds of Hell & Saltwater Sacrament- One massive campaign book. One adventure zine. This is going to be a bigger campaign with many indie creators joining forces. Will set sail on Kickstarter in Q1 / 2026.
ISLANDS OF WEIRDHOPE - Windwaker meets Waterworld in this rules light procedure-heavy TTRPG for solo and group play. Explore a near-future hazardous but hopeful world, smashing Corpo Schemes while discovering Monsters and Mecha lurking beneath the waves. Some of the mechanics and locations could be adapted licely for Pirate Borg, although tone and setting are quite different. Launched and funded today!

Nov 25: Editing, Art, and BackerKit Prep, plus a few surprises

New art by Sabrina Jatscha is coming in. Spread and editing WIP.
The Golems Speak
Hello everyone,
I hope everyone is doing fine and played a wonderful Halloween one-shot of whatever TTRPG you liked! This is our monthly general update, as promised. We'll also share our reply to a backer question and have an announcement to share, or two ;)
How did October go?
Some good progress has been made, with a few minor delays as well. So let's dive in:
Good news first: All the new additional content for The Scarlet Coral Citadel Enhanced Edition has been written! Thanks to Stretch Goal No. 10+13, we are extending that zine from planned 16 to 24 pages. The zine is at the editor, John Baltisberger, right now.
The content / text for Ravaged by Storms is written and done, editing as well, although we will give it a final proofreading loop when we are ready to print.
Playtests for Ravaged by Storms are still ongoing. I wish we'd started them a little earlier (I think it was in June), but they are generally going well, the adventure is overall well received, and we were able to incorporate some of the feedback.
Some more spreads have been finalized and more art pieces are being worked on, the portraits of the Tempest Deluxe pledge level included. That said, our artist Sabrina Jatscha had been ill for over two weeks in October, so there have certainly been some delays on this front. We're now at 80-90% of the art finished, but we wanted to be further along.
Thomas Zitkevitz has completed the entire Soundtrack for Ravaged by Storms. It will be shared along the PDF version of the adventure.
I (Alexander) have also written another complete adventure location for a still secret Pirate Borg project not connected to this Kickstarter. Stay tuned ;)
November Announcements (Pledge Manager etc.)
At the beginning of this week, we've finished set up our Pledge Manager and Preorder Store on BackerKit, which was a way more complex and time-consuming task than I thought. BackerKit is currently reviewing what we've done. Assuming there are not many corrections to be done and approval is imminent, we should be able to send a smoke test of our Backer Survey to around 5% of our backers next week. If that works well, we'll be able to open up the pledge manager, preorder store, and survey for everyone in the first weeks of November. Let's hope that it all works out.
What's important to know: You will receive the invitation to your backer survey via e-mail. If you click on the link and open up the survey you will find all instructions inside. You'll need to complete the survey to access your digital files as they become available.
Digital Fulfillment will start immediately or almost immediately as soon as we can open up the pledge manager for everyone. Among the first items will be a stand-alone 3-page Storm Generator from Ravaged by Storms, our adventure The Way of the Worm, and its VTT assets.
Play-by-post-campaign: A little embarrassed about this one. Sorry that it takes so long. But that's also planned for next month and in preparation.
What are we going to work on next?
The main goal is to finalize Ravaged by Storms, so that we can do the final proofreading, send it to the printer (for a proof, first), and digitally fulfill it before the holidays.
The second most important thing is to get the backer survey out to all of you (see above).
Solo Storm will be the next stretch goal for me to write, but depending how some other things go, that may well become a task for December.
Backer question: Where are the Death Wind Islands on the map? Do they belong to the The Dark Caribbean setting?
According to the book, the Death Wind Islands are located in the Eastern Bahamas, but fictional islands. This is something I've thought about for a long time. “Black Coral Bay,” the setting in the PIRATE BORG rulebook, is a fictional island and thus a precedent for adding new Caribbean isles to the game.
However, Limithron has since moved on to describing and illuminating real islands in the context of their fictional setting in many 1st party products. Although Luke Stratton notes that the setting is there to be hacked, as 3PP creators, this poses a challenge for us.
Why's that? If we were to fill an existing island of the Dark Caribbean map with our adventure, with every 1st party PIRATE BORG release the chance of it eventually being “overwritten” by an official version would increase. And that could cause problems for GMs, that we'd like to avoid. They would have to choose between one version or the other, etc. We want to avoid that kind of situation. That's why the Death Wind Islands have no real-world model but are designed with the Eastern Bahamas in mind—there are hundreds of islands there—and are absolutely intended for the official setting: The Dark Caribbean, including background story, factions, etc.
By the way, the same is true for The Way of the Worm (a port in the Lesser Antilles) and The Scarlet Coral Citadel (a structure close to the coast of Florida). They are absolutely designed to be a natural part of the The Dark Caribbean, but you have some freedom in where to put them exactly, if you don't want to follow our suggestion.
Projects We Love
Islands of Weirdhope: An ECO MOFOS!! game
Let's start with a disclaimer: Although no Golem Productions game, I (Alexander) am proud to share I will be contributing an official adventure for this weird Windwaker-meets-Waterworld naval TTRPG based on ECO MOFOS!!. It's called "Neptun's Heartstone", where in the floating ruins of a fallen sky fortress, factions struggle over a fading levitation crystal hidden deep within the machinery. Can't wait for you all to see it. Although different in tone and setting from The Dark Caribbean, some of ideas and mechanics in this game can serve as a great inspiration for PIRATE BORG.
"In ISLANDS OF WEIRDHOPE, players set sail in this rules-light, procedure-heavy TTRPG for solo and group play. Explore a near-future hazardous but hopeful world, smashing Corpo Schemes while discovering Monsters and Mecha lurking beneath the waves, guzzling ambergris to learn new spells. Explore an optimistic new world, weirdhope not grimdark.
Islands of Weirdhope is a psychedelic self-contained new game, using adapted Mark of the Odd rules for group or Solo play that compliments the Award-winning ECO MOFOS!! rulebook, exploring the wonders and weirdness of the future seas.
Islands of Weirdhope will be accompanied by a book of specially written watery adventures, Four Fathoms Deep, by some of our favourite writers: Ennie-winning Leo Hunt (Vaults of Vaarn, The Shrike), Zedeck Siew (A Perfect Wife, Lorn Song of the Batchelor), Chris Air (Not Enough Scoundrels, 5 Million Worlds) and Alexander Jatscha-Zelt of Golem Productions."

Donate Our Gold! Stretch Goal No. 4+11 confirmed and completed

The Golems Speak
Ahoy, conquerors of the sea!
This is a very short one, but I thought it deserves an update. For Stretch Goal No. 4 and 11, we promised we'd give back. See, I love games and gaming and it's awesome that you all decided to invest in us. And that's why we're working hard to provide you with some great, epic adventures.
Nevertheless, we believe that even very small companies like ours should contribute to the common good. That's why we promised in stretch goals 4 and 11 to donate 2% of the funding amount plus the same amount from our own pockets to a local public welfare organization in our region that is involved in youth welfare in many ways and provides a home for orphans and other young people in need. Thanks to a large order of our books by Limithron for their web store (thank you!), we have even increased the amount to 1,200 €. We are proud to announce that the donation to timeout has now been completed.
Expect a more extensive update in early November! Things are progressing well :)
